    Description

    This is a Michigan
    vanity plate for 1994
    .
In Michigan you can NOT license your 1994 car or truck with a plate like this. Vanity plates were special ordered plates that were stamped with the year they were current thru the 1st half of 1993, then were issued stickers like all the other plates that had a 1994 sticker to update the 1984-style standard blue plate.
However, Michigan does not allow a vanity plate to be used as a "YOM" (Year-Of-Manufacture) plate for an "antique" car at least 25 years old.
Vanity plates during these years were two plates, but we only
    acquired
    this single.
I am now listing an entire array of these plates that all came from a person years ago in Lansing Michigan, our capitol city.  However, I do not know what these plates mean--what the lettering actually is supposed to stand for.  At first I wondered if many of these were intended for a fleet of Cadillacs from "Capitol Cadillac," but when I looked online that dealership seems to be quite new with very few comments on its website.  OR, did these plates come from offices inside the state capitol, from office managers who get company cars given to them for a few months or a year?
I am listing a wide variety of these plates tonight, so look at the others on my store to see if another fits your uses better.  Perhaps you can think of a good slogan that the plate you choose might stand for?
If anyone out there knows the REAL context of these plates, please let me know and I'll add the info to all these listings.
Upon request, I will include the business card of a plate collector/restorer in the Grand Rapids Michigan area that you can have these plates restored at a very competitive price.  I've known him for several years back when I was selling car literature at swap meets.  His license plate display always looks very nice and I know he does all of his restorations.
Condition is very good to excellent.
Enlarge the photos for a look.  The photos show you exactly what you are buying.
On grading any license plate I look at the mounting holes and overall condition.  Are the mounting holes elongated or worn larger?  Are there cracks or SHARP bends?  Minor warpage is fine, I don't pay attention to that.  But rust on steel plates or cracks and breaks in aluminum plates all affects the condition.  If I grade it fair or good it is most likely restorable.  Fair or poor means you should hang it on the wall as a conversation piece.  Or on the wall in your bar or restaurant.
Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs.
NOTE: I notice lately that when multiple orders are made from my store, Ebay stacks up all the individual postage costs and customers are paying it.  So I combine their order into one package, and I have made a practice of refunding all that extra postage back to the customer's Paypal account and doing it 3 times a week.
