HISTORICAL NOTE:
A note was found inside indicating in 1951 this was purchased as a gift from Henry J Kaiser, a well known industrial mogul and a founder of Kaiser Hospitals (now Kaiser Permanente) for a friend and later obtained by an antique shot and purchased in Auburn CA in 1996.  Little remembered, Kaiser was instrumental in the WW2 effort, establishing the manufacture of 467 Liberty and Victory ships on short time including the attack transports used in Normandy at Kaiser Shipyards in Richmond CA.  Though the note indicates it as "miners lunch box" patents for these in India were not secured and mass produced internationally until after 1860. They were however used extensively by Irish, Scottish, Chinese, and India immigrants in the USA and Britain having extensive export through british colonial trade routes.  This is likely the reason for this as a gift after WW2....to symbolize the hard work and sacrifices of many industrial laborers likely of many immigrants during WW2

My items are always shipped well packaged. At times, this may cost slightly more, a well packed and cushioned box will ensure you receive the item intact and unbroken.  I too have lost great items which cannot be replaced by a refund.

Payment must be received within 5 days of the close of the auction.
If payment is not received within 5 days, the auction will be Re-Listed and a non-paying bidder alert will be filed.  This process is automated through eBay.  I have no control over this.
