The Shimano XT CN-M8100 12 chain forms a central component of the XT M8100 and Ultegra R8100 group and has therefore been optimized from the ground up. Precise, fast and smooth gear changes in both directions, even under load, are ensured by high-precision contact surfaces on the chainring and cassette. In addition, the CN-M8100 chain has chromed inner links, which noticeably increase its durability.

The CN-M8100 chain has an asymmetrical design. The direction of travel must therefore be observed when pulling up. The specially shaped tabs optimize the engagement on the pinion and lead to even smoother gear changes even under load. To save weight, these chains have recesses on the inner plates.
