Very Rare Ancient Brown/Ferrous/Hematite Included Mollusk Cast/Ancient Seabed

This is a Very Rare Ancient Brown/Ferrous/Hematite Included Mollusk Cast from an Ancient Seabed on The Chowan River in Northeastern North Carolina. The Chowan River runs from Franklin, Va. to the Albemarle Sound in Northeastern, NC to the Outer Banks and finally The Atlantic Ocean. A long time ago there existed an Ancient Inland Sea where the Chowan River now flows. The bottom of this sea or ocean was heavy with iron/ferrous material as evidenced in the layering of silt and clay along the outcrop of the seabed. This cast was created by the material that surrounded and filled the mollusk when it was buried long, long ago. The material over time exchanged ions to form this incredible fossil remains. The specimen measures 2 1/4 inches long x 1 3/4 inches wide x 1 1/4 inches thick. It weighs about 2.3 ounces. The last four pictures are taken in extreme bright light.
